Sam, R.E.M. was definately my favorite band in… 1988. I was definately 12. I bought three of their… tapes… yes, tapes. Eponymous, Green and Document… since then, “Out of Time” became another favorite. I applaud… loudly… from here in my seat. I’m close to a standing ovation. Good job, Sam!
Hey there. I’m a totally random dude from Portland, Oregon who stumbled upon your blog while googling something else, but I had to take the time to tell you that you are an exceptionally cool 8-year-old if you are listening to R.E.M. – man oh man. Way to go! I can only hope that my 5 1/2 year-old son makes the same wise music choices that you are making!
(“Life’s Rich Pageant” is my favorite R.E.M. album – you might want to check out Uncle Tupelo’s “Still Feel Gone” and Wilco’s “Being There”. When you’re a little older try Richard Buckner’s “Devotion and Doubt”)
